HHT

  • The Flood: City of Brandon declared a state of emergency yesterday due to flooding of the Assiniboine River which rose 1/2 meter since Friday.
  • Homes in the area of the river have been ordered to evacuate, businesses have been forced to move, Kirkaldy school is closed (school at BU). A man was driving on Grand Valley Road when his vehicle stalled and he had to be rescued. He is in hospital and there is talk that he may be charged because the road was closed. The army has been called in to help raise the level of existing sandbags and to create new barriers to try to prevent overland flooding. OLCS will not be going swimming at the Sportsplex until further notice due to flooding.
  • Measles are on the rise due to people not getting the vaccine.
  • A plane crashed in Indonesia, at least 15 lives were lost. Safety concerns are possible cause.
  • Fossilized ant- size of humming bird enlarger similar to European species was discovered recently in N.A.
  • OLCS students painted a mural last week with the help of the artist the school. Allison Moore. It turned out exceptionally well!
  • 3000 homes were evacuated in Quebec due to the Richeleu River.
  • Egypt-Christians and Muslims are clashing. The army has been called in to help settle!
  • In Pakistan authorities are refusing to allow Bin Ladin's wives to be interviewed.
  • Rita Chretien was found in Nevada after 7 weeks in a vehicle. Her husband is still missing.
