On Nov. 8, 2016 Donald Trump won the title of 45th president of USA with 278 electoral votes while democratic candidate Hilary Clinton lost with 218 electoral votes.

On Nov. 18th OLCS WE day team will attend WE Day in Winnipeg, MB . We have 25 tickets which is amazing for a small, rural school. On Thurs. Nov. 17th 5 student leaders and 2 staff will attend a special Evening of Inspiration. Jeremy Larway  Grade 9 student will receive the soverigns medal for volunteer for his volunteer work at OLCS.

On Nov. 6th the Virden Golden  Bears played their last game of the season against Swan Valley; they lost 15-26 but played hard.

On  Nov. 2 the Cubs and Indians fought for the World Series of baseball at the end of the 7 game series the Cubs pulled it off and won the final game 7-8 in extra innings in Cleveland!


Our thoughts and prayers are with the famous singer Michael Buble whose 3 year old son was recently diagnosed with cancer.

OLCS boys Raptor volleyball team clinched 2nd place in Virden at the FLBSD Divisionals on Nov. 1 losing by one point in the 3rd set  and playing a great game.

On Tuesday Oct 4/16 Venezuclans of the Toronto Blue Jays hit a single into shallow center field it was the biggest RBI of his career driving in 2 important runs :)

On October 9/16 a fire destroyed the only mechanic in Gladstone and the residence are in disbelief 

On Oct 4/16 a Canadian teacher Linda Brooks returned to Hati to find hurricane Matthew had destroyed the school in Dane Mary and many houses on the coastal community

Over the weekend Hudson and Humphrey the polar bears at Assisiboine park zoo in Winnipeg left for Toronto Zoo  leaving 7 polar bears approximately 600 people came to say goodbye to them :(

Last week two good Samaritans pulled a man and woman out of a firey car crash spewing a 15 ft flame on the Trans Canada highway near Surrey, B.C.

On October 10/16 Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated B.C. Lions and have clenched a seat in the play offs

One of the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes in recent history has hit Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and is threatening Florida. Hurricane Mathew wreaking havoc!


There was a plane crash in Northwest territories on an island in Gordon Lake. All passengers survived.

Donna Davidson may lose her support dog because her condo doesn't think its an actual support dog. She needs her dog because she has Alzheimer's and it helps her navigate safely.

Shimon Peres pasted away on September 28th, 2016. He was a very important Prime Minister of Israel and won the Noble Peace Prize for a peace deal between Israels and Palestinians in 1994.

HHT: Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

• On February 23rd 2016  our OLCS grade 7/8 boys basketball team made history by clinching the FLBSD Divisional Championship in 3 straight games and remained undefeated throughout the season! This is the first time our boys have been the Divisional Champion in 17 years! Go Raptors Go!

HHT for January 28th, 2016

• The 100th Anniversary of women's  right to vote in Manitoba is being recognized today due to the hard work of women's advocate Nellie McClung.

• 30 years ago today on January 28th, 1986 the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded after take off from Cape Canaveral. All 7 crew perished, along with teacher Christa McAuliffe who was the first civilian who ever attempted space travel.
