History happening today

A motorcyclist was hit and pinned underneath a car. Other motorists stopped their vehicles and lifted up the car and freed the injured motorcyclist. The car blew up and the motorcyclist has other motorists to thank for saving his life.

The number of women developing cervical cancer is increasing especially in Edmonton, Alberta. It is recommended that women are scanned to try to catch the disease earlier so treatments will be more effective.

Hurricane Maria hit the east cost of Canada with high winds and rain. Especially the Avalon Peninsula of New found land was hardest hit.

9/11 was a series of 4 passenger jets, 2 went into the twin towers in New York, one into a field by Pennsylvania and one into the pentagon in Washington. This September marked the 10th anniversary of these tragedies and people gathered to mourn the event and the loss of lives

2 memorials now stand in the place where the twin towers were. spotlights and a light show marked the occasion "tribute in life". The Taliban/ Alquaida although the leader of the terrorist attack Bin Laden was captured and killed this year are still threatening a terrorist attack. Security especially at airports is being increased. As they have a new leader in place who threatens more terrorists attacks. President of US honors fallen victims of attack by encouraging others to remember this day as one to help others. Stephen Harper PM of Canada marked the anniversary of the death of 24 Canadians who were killed in the 9/11 attacks.
