On  November 29th 2017 an emergency alert was sent to all of L.A. that a forest fire had started in southern L.A. area. It has spread about 90,000 acres by Wednesday. It has caused 200,000 people to evacuate the L.A. area. This fire continues to ravage the area-K.J.

This school year our roots of empathy baby is Anastasia Grace Enns in senior kindergarten. This program teaches students how a baby grows and develops in one year.-B.M.

Actress Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things was stranded on Bali when the volcano erupted, stranding her and over 300 people for 10 days.-L.H.

The WMCA in Brandon Manitoba is wanting to raise 10,000 dollars for homeless people in the Brandon area.-S.P. 

On November 16/17 in South Dakota there was an oil spill the biggest this year reported by Keystone pipeline.-T.C.


















    

HHT Monday November 27th 2017

On Sunday November 26/17 The Toronto Argonauts defeated the Calgary stampedes in a blizzard with a 24 - 27 win clinching the Grey Cup. 

OLCS Christmas Concert will take place on December 7th two performances 1 pm and 7 pm It is called a pirates Christmas.

On Sunday November 12th 2017 an earthquake struck between Iran and Iraq. It was a 7.3 magnitude with a depth of 14 miles that left hundreds dead and thousand injured and homeless.

Team Meillur from Manitoba representing ladies curling in the road to roar pre trials for Olympics played in P.E.I  Janelle Vachon from Oak Lake played second on the rink and they narrowly missed the qualifiers. N.V

HHT November 15 2017

On Friday November 10th Mr. Glen Kirkland was OLCS guest speaker at our annual Remembrance day service. He brought a message of his journey in the Canada's military. He served for ten years from 2005-2015. He was highly ranked for his service and especially for an incident with an IED that left him with life long injuries and two of his fellow soldiers lost their lives. He felt that the greatest accomplishment of his service was the number of kids attending school and especially girls. We appreciate Mr. Kirkland sharing his story!  

WE Day 2017  October 30 2017

On October 25 the OLCS We Day team traveled to Winnipeg MTS center to celebrate We Day. Highlights from the day:

-Listening to Sarah Wells talk about Journey of  Perseverance to get to the Olympics-A.R

-Getting the Front row seats because we were nominated by WE Day for our Volunteers Have Heart Celebration-N.V

-Listening to Ben Sabic speak about mental heath-S.P 

-Listening to Kerry Kennedy talk about her being an activist against racism-L.H

-Listening to all the inspirational speakers-T.T

-Yelling George Takei at George Takei and eating some good old McDonalds -K.J

-Dancing with the D.Js-N.F
-Lots of confetti-C.W

U.S.A wins over Canada in the world juniors hockey for girls.

there are 5 Canadian teams going to the NHL play offs. 

Toronto Maple leafs make NHL playoffs. there record is 95 points. Auston Mathews hit 40 goals. Toronto will meet the  Washington capitals in the first round. 

 16 teams will be playing in the NHL playoffs competing  for the  Stanley cup. Playoffs begin on Wednesday 12/17

Vancouver Canucks will be looking for a new coach next hockey season.
