Two snowmobile-rs were rescued in Lac Du Bonnet area after spending Saturday night outdoors.

  Three and half month old baby Bailey is in desperate need of blood donations from five people for every three days to fight the illness.

Nov 4

On Oct.30, 2013 over 16,000 high school and junior high students attended WE Day in Winnipeg; there were 15 or more great inspirational motivational speakers, bands and musicians with one message of being the positive change in the world. 

On Nov.1 Bill Ayotte was attacked by a polar bear while saving a woman in front of his house; he was flown to the Winnipeg hospital.

Nov 1

On Oct. 19, 2013 the Brandon Wheat Kings beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 6-3 when they "pinked the rink" by wearing pink jerseys in support of the Canadian Cancer Society raised over 25000 dollars.

Tropical storm Raymond steamed Sunday Oct. 27 toward Mexico's Southern Pacific coast an area devestated by rains and mudslides from tropical storm manuel in Setpember.

On Oct. 29, 2013 the grade 7/8 boys went to represent their school at Virden Manitoba for Volleyball Divisionals.

The Provincal Government is supporting high schools across Manitoba torwards their educational and job opporunities in the future.

Last week a massive snowstorm tore through South Dakota killing 10 000 to 100 000 cows and calves.

Animals were being blessed in Virden at the church.

American aviator Johnathan Trappe floated with 370 helium filled balloons attached to him across the Atlantic, but didn't make it. This happened on September 12-13 2013.

The Dood Family of Brandon, cut the ribbon on Tuesday evening and the new YMCA building is named after the father of the family.


Billed the "worlds fastest robot" wild cat was funded by DARPA used potentially for military use only; made in 2012 in the USA.


A massive storm tracked across mid- western United States causing tornado's and heavy snowfall October. 4th and 5th/ 2013.


On October. 1st/ 2013 Manitoba Hydro announced they would be closing 24 rural offices across the province in order to save 2 million dollars per year.

On August. 31st 2013 Merv. Tweed elected member of Parliament for Brandon Souris resigned; Larry McQuire gas since replaced him as MP.



The Israelies are concerned about the possibility of Syria using chemical warfare on their country to point that some people are purchasing gas masks for protection.

On Sept.8th Brandon Public transit began a four-month pilot project to offer bus service on Sundays.


Manitoba Honey Bee producers  lost 46% of their Bees over the last winter, and it is yet to be determined why.


 Twelve years ago terrorists took over four planes, crashing into the Pentagon, Twin Towers and a field in Pennsylvania. Today President Obama announced to the world that he would protect his country from anything like 911.


On Sept.3rd/ 2013 West Jet started flying in and out of the Brandon regional airport on a daily basis, after 17 years of waiting.

Sept. 17th HHT.

In 2013 a meat scandal was exposed across Europe. it was reported that some meat labelled as beef was really horse or pork meat.


According to new fare boxes installed on the Brandon transit buses, a total of 743 people used the bus on a Sunday. Proving buses are still needed to run in the city on Sundays.


Mackenzie Clark and Kalli a three legged dog raised $1,862 in pledges to aid the local animal shelter.


Brandon School Division votes unanimously to ban the use of scents in school.

Hockey Canada invited some big names to their Olympic camp in Calgary in Sept, to choose what will hopefully be a winning team for the Olympic games in Sochi, Russia, in 2014.


The 25th anniversary of the Virden Indoor Rodeo and Wild West Daze took place in Virden on Sept. 15th to 18th with a number of fundraising and rodeo events.


Canadian Rangers have and continue to patrol northern Canada since 1947 including patrolling B.C's coast to protect for a possible Japanese invasion during WW2.

The Great Manitoba Duck Race sponsored by Assiniboine Park Conservacy to raise money for the zoo took place September 7th, when 13,000 yellow ducks were dropped by crane into the Assiniboine River.


Syrian President Basher denies using chemical warfare on his own people and says "if U.S attacks Syria, Americans can expect every action."

- On May 20th CF and her family went to Las Vegas, Nevada and Anaheim, California; it was a great experience, but she was happy to be home.
- The Brandon Fair will be starting on Wednesday, June 5th, at the Keystone Centre; it is the 131st  Brandon Summer Fair.
- This year the Manitoba Summer Fair has a new ride ; called the Mach 3 because it goes in the pattern of a razor.

-On Sunday, May 5 was the annual Winnipeg Police half marathon that was 13 miles and there was about 1000 runners.

-On May 22 OLCS will be having their Spring Concert featuring student performances.

-Lakefront residents of Ochre Beach are cleaning up from massive ice flows that damaged and destroyed their cottages and homes.

- Senior drivers are protesting against a move to standardizing tests to see if the elder should have their drivers license or not. 

-On April 14th Adam Scott became the first Australian to win the Masters Golf Tournament and the Green Jacket.

-This afternoon the Manitoba Government is suppose to be releasing the new budget for 2013. many people believe the new budget will cause problems in the future.

-"Faced with what is right, to leave it undone shows a lack of courage"  -Confucius , Chinese Philosopher 

- Boston Marathon yesterday ended in tragedy, there were 3 people dead and 152  people injured. 3 bombs were reported to have exploded at the finish line. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their family's. It was Patriot Day in  Boston. A large number of people were celebrating being American by attending ball games and arts and cultural activities as well as the Boston Marathon

-Justin Trudeau won the  Liberal Party leadership making history being the only leader to win on the first ballot with an outstanding  majority.

- Former Prime minister Margret Thatcher passed away last week.

Katya Winters and Emily Plaisers project entitled "Vegetation Restoration" has made top 12 in the "Caring for our Watersheds" contest sponsored by Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Center. Their project was selected as one of twelve winners from 10 different schools in MB and over 120 entries. The girls will travel to Winnipeg and present there project at a supper and awards dinner. We hope they will be Victorious.

-More than 165 jazz bands from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are performing at Jazz Festival at Brandon University this week. 

-On March.10,2013  Chicago Blackhawks lost their 2nd consecutive lose of the season to the Edmonton Oilers.

-On March.9,2013 SS attended the Knights of Columbus Free Throw at the provincial level. She got 18 shots out of 25 and ended up winning first place!

-Officials from Manitoba are watching the spring run-off in Saskatchewan; run-off is very high in Moose Jaw - Regina area and Saskatoon - Prince Albert area there is higher chances now of flooding.

HHT

-On Monday, Feb. 25th, Canada's military launched their first satellite from a pad in India.  The satellite is called a sapphire which will help monitor all 20 000 pieces of space junk and make sure they don't crash into each other.

-On Sunday, Feb. 23rd, Club West hosted their home tournament in Virden winning four out of five games placing 3rd place over all.

HHT Feb. 22, 2013

-Gil Cheung of the Brandon University mens basketball team made a half court shot that gave Mason Kaluzniak free tuition for this semester.

- On Wed, Feb. 20/2013 Oak Lake girls grade 8 basketball team travelled to Virden Junior High for their divisional tournament and were victorious winning all games and the divisional plaque for the 6th consecutive year!

- On Thurs, Feb. 21/2013 Oak Lake boys basketball team travelled to Elkhorn for divisionals. They defeated all teams to compete in the finals and lost a hard fought battle with Kola to place 2nd in the division!

- On Feb.18th there was a major snowstorm hitting MB and closing many major highways due to heavy snowfall and blowing snow.

- This Feb, Dallas , Texas will Be hosting Canada apprecation month to boost their economy.

- Early in the morning on Feb.15th Russia was hit with a meteor explosion. The explosion left 1000 people injured and 3000 buildings damaged.

- Feb.18th a man robbed 200 oxecoden tablets and approximentley 40 suboxone pills from an Osborne street pharmacy. The public needs to be aware of these harmful drugs that may be sold on the street.

HHT-
 -Pope Benedict XVI Resigned being the first pope in history to resign. He resigned due to age and health failing. 
-Oak Lake Raptors basketball team traveled to Brandon on the weekend where they were victorious defeating the Brandon teams they met.
-A major snow storm hit the east coast of the U.S and Canada. It caused 12 deaths in the U.S, roads, schools, airports, were closed and flooding along the coast.
