Thanksgiving Manitoba Storm

- Over 37,000 people lost power
- Oct. 13th- 2,500 people still without power.
- Flood warnings/ High Water
-3,540 hydro poles snapped due to heavy, wet snow and strong winds
- About 1,000 hydro workers are working to repair some poles in chest-high mud
- Majority of power outages in the Ashern area
- Generators sent to Dauphin reservation
- 60-70cm snow dropped 
- 5,700 people evacuated to hotels
- #1 and #2 highway closed from Headingley to Saskatchewan border
- MB construction sites stopped and switched to winter cleanup
- State of emergency called 
- Other provinces sent workers to help
-Water usage for emergency only (in the hard-hit area) 
-Storm chaser comments worse power impacted storm ever
-100 transmission structures crumbled
-Biggest power outage in MB history
-Red cross involved
-Catastrophe estimated costs to repair the damage: $110 Million 
-Carberry had 74cm, which is the top amount recorded
-Plane went off the runway in WPG
-Fridges/Freezers without power in one Walmart, all produce and refrigerated items thrown out
