History Happening Today

- The flooding started in May 2011 in Burlington and by June it came to Minot. There was 4 000 homes affected. The National Guard was called in to help dike, relocate people to shelters and prevent looting. People are still living in shelters waiting for trailers and lots.

- Steve Jobs, co founder of Apple Computer Inc. has died at the age of 56 from cancer. Steve helped design ipods, iphones, ipads and Apple computers. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak opened and started to sell computers in1976.

- Mary Bach sued a Walmart successfully for overcharging her by 2 cents on a bag of sausages. The "Scanner Price Accuracy Voluntary Code" prevents stores from overcharging customers they must charge the lowest price for the product or give the item to the customer free.

- Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq moved to change the classification of energy drinks from natural health products to food products.

- Students and staff at a Winnipeg private school are mourning the death of a teenage boy who collapsed during a soccer tryout on Wed. Oct 5, 2011. Despite use of difibrillators.
